Curriculums (e.g. Programs)

Below are links (program or curriculum names, 3 letter acronyms, and degree type) to the HVCC Computing and Information Sciences’ programs on the main Web site.  All links will open in a new tab and in an effort to provide some advance navigation guidance of the HVCC academic Web site, I recommend you navigate to the links below and then follow the General Information link of the particular program to view entrance requirements and the detailed curriculum (i.e. course requirements).  Also some curriculums have additional information about the curriculum and available resources (e.g. CSA Networking Laboratories and CWW Additional Information) that is highly informative and illustrates the department’s curricular leadership position.  Note the difference between A.S. and A.A.S. in layman’s terms may be found in the “Advisement & Transfer” menu above but in a nutshell, the A.S. program is for students that intend to transfer to 4-year institutions whereas the A.A.S. is for students that intend to work following graduation.

Administrative Information Management and Technology (AIM A.A.S.)

Computer Information Systems (CSS A.S.)

CSS is a Transfer Degree

Computer Information Systems (CIS A.A.S.)

CIS is the most flexible working degree

System and Network Administration (CSA A.A.S.)

CSA contains the Cisco Network Academy (CCNA, CCNP, Security, VOIP, Wireless)

Web Design and WWW Programming (CWW A.A.S.)

Note Web Design today is information design and management and client-side (JavaScript and Ajax) and server side (PHP and MySQL among others) programming to provide an optimal and tailored Web experience to end users accessible on all platforms (PC, Mac, Tablets, Phones, etc.) 24-7.  It is not pretty Graphic Design as this broadcast application (think TV) failed in the bust.

Health Information Management and Technology (HIM A.A.S.)

Information Systems Certificate

ISC is essentially the CIS A.A.S. without the Liberal Arts & Sciences courses.  It is often used in industry by students without IT/IS degrees for advancement.
